Co-Creating Housing Solutions: Enacting Opportunities for Individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
What is the CHOoSE Project?
An innovative approach is urgently needed to address housing instability among individuals with FASD.
Many people with FASD need personalized support to meet their housing needs. Across Canada, service providers want to learn how to better support this group.
The CHOoSE Project was a research project conducted with individuals with FASD, caregivers, housing service providers, researchers, support workers and policymakers.
Together, we worked to find new ways to build housing solutions that reflect the needs and strengths of individuals with FASD.

“These are all doable things. We just have to bring the right people together to make it happen.”
— Service Provider and Caregiver to an Individual with FASD
Our Results:
An FASD-Informed Housing Course
The CHOoSE Project taught us so much about the different barriers and supports related to housing. Using what we learned, we have developed a short, free online course on housing individuals with FASD.
What you can find in this course:
An overview of the project: What we did, and how we did it
Everything we learned: The specific areas we need to target to improve housing
Ways to put this into practice: Tools and resources you can download and take with you to help make an impact
We are passionate about making knowledge easy to access. Housing for individuals with FASD will not improve without greater understanding: this is a step towards that goal.
